THE BREW HUT CLASSES
We offer home brewing supplies and great classes right next door to our South Dock Brewery.
Opening its doors in 2005, Dry Dock Brewing Company was the first craft brewery in Aurora. It was the result of the community that came out of a homebrew shop and sister company, The Brew Hut.
It all started in 1995, with the opening of The Brew Hut. Co-owners Kevin DeLange and Michelle Reding expanded the tiny homebrew shop’s “experimental” homebrew batches, by cutting a hole in the wall into the recently vacated space and converted it into a 900 square foot microbrewery right next door! Dry Dock Brewing Co. was born as seven BBL brewery and tasting room for their homebrew customers to enjoy.
Within months of being open, Dry Dock Brewing won their first beer competition meal at the World Beer Cup with its Gold winner Amber Ale. Dry Dock quickly became known as an awarding winning brewery across Colorado, leading to another expansion of the brewery.
In 2013, Dry Dock nearly quadrupled its production numbers, jumping from 3,200 barrels to 12,000 barrels in just one year. With the increased demand in craft beer, came the purchase of a 30,000-square-foot production facility, and second brewery tasting room, known as North Dock. This allowed Dry Dock to expand and brew more than 20,000 barrels of beer a year and distribute across the entire state of Colorado.
In addition to North Dock’s twelve tap tasting room, the Canoe Room, there is an 18 hole disc golf course on the property for customers to enjoy. A brewery tour of the production facility is also available at this location.
Since Kevin and Michelle started this adventure, Dry Dock Brewing Co. has brought home several local and international awards for a variety of beer that has been on tap. To date, they have 26 GABF medals and 8 World Beer Cup awards.
Dry Dock’s most popular beer to date is their Apricot Blonde. Other flagship beers include Hazy IPA, Amber Ale, Hop Abomination, Vanilla Porter, and Sour Apricot. The full lineup includes a variety of beers including fruit ales, sour beers, gluten free Mysters Hard Seltzer, low calorie Dayboard Lager, and German Style Lagers.
