Dry Dock’s HMS Victory Amber Ale, formerly known as the HMS Victory E.S.B., is the beer that put Dry Dock on the map. Less than a year after the brewery opened, the Amber Ale received a gold medal at the 2006 World Beer Cup. Dry Dock Co-Owner Kevin DeLange remembers feeling surprised about this recognition, thinking that another brewery might have even used the same name. “I still felt like a homebrewer,” he recalls. “I kept thinking, Who stole our name?

Dry Dock’s Amber Ale was the first member of the brewery’s home fleet, and it would go on to win a silver medal at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival.

“Amber Ales aren’t exactly in vogue these days— they’ve taken a backseat to IPAs and sour beers over the past few years— but I think they have stood the test of time,” says South Dock Head Brewer Tim Evon. “They’re malty and hoppy at the same time; Amber Ales are perfectly balanced table beers.”

Here are some suggestions for foods that will pair well with Dry Dock’s Amber Ale:

Beer Cheese Soup
Cured Meats
Cheeseburgers
Spicy Cajun Food
Roasted Chicken
Banana Pound Cake

Dry Dock’s Amber Ale is available on tap year-round at South Dock and on a brand new draft line at North Dock, which now features nine taps. You can find this beer in canned six-packs in liquor stores across the state, and on draft at bars and restaurants throughout Colorado.
