Dry Dock Beer Showcase: Hop Abomination IPA

“Ever since I left Green Flash Brewing Company, I was dubbed an IPA guy whether I was asking for it or not,” says Doug Hyndman, Dry Dock’s Director of Operations. Doug started brewing at South Dock, where he quickly became notorious for his love of American IPAs.”I think my first IPA at South Dock was Hopopotamus followed by the Hopasaurus Rex. Both beers were only served in the tasting room,” Doug remembers. “I wasn’t sure what my third IPA would be called but when I was brewing it the head brewer at the time Bill Eye came by and said What kind of hop abomination are you brewing now?… The name stuck.”

The inspiration for Dry Dock’s Hop Abomination came from Doug’s two favorite San Diego IPAs: Green Flash’s West Coast IPA and Ballast Point’s Sculpin IPA. It’s a hoppy warship of an IPA with massive amounts of floral, citrus and tropical hop flavors. “Hop Abomination is my baby,” Doug says proudly.

Dry Dock’s Hop Abomination is available on tap year-round at South Dock and on a brand new draft line at North Dock, which now features nine taps. You can find this beer in canned six-packs in liquor stores across the state, and on draft at bars and restaurants throughout Colorado.
